This is a message from ReadyBucks:
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for a snowstorm arriving Saturday, January 24, 2026. Forecasts are showing snow accumulations of 12-18 inches. Snow could mix with or change to sleet and freezing rain, contributing to hazardous driving conditions. Measurable ice could result in widespread and prolonged power outages and tree damage.
A lengthy period of dangerous cold could result in hypothermia if outside for long stretches. Impacts to infrastructure possible.
Buckingham Township Snow Removal Ordinance 2003-07 prohibits “street parking is prohibited during a winter storm or during the 12-hour period following the cessation of precipitation or any other period when snow removal or plowing is being conducted.” All vehicles MUST be removed from Township roads. Please do not blow or shovel snow onto Township roads. Also, make sure fire hydrants near your home are cleared of snow.
Power outages may occur during this storm. Residents should prepare for possible power outages.
Be sure your all of your mobile devices are charged. If your home has cordless phones, they will not work during a power outage. Be storm-ready by purchasing a “standard” phone that does not require electricity. Make sure you are stocked with batteries, a flashlight, and a portable radio.
If you are using portable generators, please use caution.
- Always use generators outdoors, away from doors, windows and vents.
- NEVER use generators in homes, garages, basements, crawl spaces, or other enclosed or partially enclosed areas, even with ventilation.
- Follow manufacturer's instructions.
- Install battery-operated or plug-in (with battery backup) carbon monoxide (CO) alarms in your home, following manufacturer's instructions.
- Test CO alarms often and replace batteries when needed.
- NEVER plug the generator into a wall outlet. This practice, known as back feeding, can cause an electrocution risk to utility workers and others served by the same utility transformer.
- Before refueling the generator, turn it off and let it cool. Fuel spilled on hot engine parts could ignite.
Travel will be extremely hazardous during the storm. Please allow our public works crews and emergency responders to do their jobs safely and efficiently by limiting all non-essential travel during the storm.
Residents should take all precautions and begin storm preparations now. Remember to check on our friends and neighbors who may need assistance during and following the storm.
